Former Republican governor of California and movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent emergency heart surgery Thursday night and is now in stable condition.

Schwarzenegger’s surgery was to replace a catheter valve which developed complications requiring the rush operation. The former governor reportedly has a history of congential heart problems and underwent an aortic valve replacement 20 years ago.
