President Donald Trump said during a press conference on Tuesday that he believes only “very stupid people” are opposed to him working with Russia.

Trump spoke to the press during a working lunch with the Baltic Leaders and addressed his administration’s policy on Russia.

He asserted that “nobody has been tougher” on Russia than him, citing U.S. energy independency and military strength as things that would not have happened had Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election.(RELATED: Expelled Russian Diplomats Leave US)

However, he also asserted that he believes the U.S. should try to get along with Russia, stating, “[Getting along with Russia] is a good thing, not a bad thing.”

“We’ll find out whether or not we do. If we could all get along, that would be great, and that includes China and includes many other countries. But we will see what happens. Only time will tell,” he said. “Pretty much everybody agrees to that, except very stupid people.”
