Everybody knows that I’m a huge fan of “Red Dawn,” and opening somebody’s eyes to the film is incredible.
I have seen “Red Dawn” no less than 50 times. I used to run around as a little kid with a rifle pretending soda cans were Communist invaders. The film had a huge impact on my childhood and life as a whole. Some people might find that a bit strange, but I find people who don’t love “Red Dawn” to be strange. They probably also don’t think the Miracle on Ice was awesome.
Recently, I introduced a friend to the film and they were blown away. This person entered the movie experience with no expectations of any kind, other than I told them it was maybe the greatest film ever made.
Getting people hooked on “Red Dawn” is kind of a passion of mine. Some people love food, sex, cars, clothes, big houses and tons of other stuff. Don’t get me wrong. I love that stuff too, but I don’t love that stuff nearly as much I love “Red Dawn.”
Now, it’s an old movie, and you never know how our generation will consume old content. I sat there eagerly waiting to find out if they’d enjoy the movie.
They loved every single moment of Communists getting blown away. I considered my objective and mission successfully completed. I’ve converted another person to the good side, and that’s all we can ask for at the end of the day.
