Shivon Perez, 38, from Altamonte Springs, Fla., has been accused of trying to burn her ex-boyfriend to death after inviting him over on to her apartment on Easter Sunday.

The Altamonte Springs Police Department claims Perez asked her boyfriend to fix a broken pipe in her bathroom. Once he got down on the floor to fix it, she poured gasoline all over him and lit him on fire with a blow torch, Fox35 WOFL reported. “You are going to pay,” she allegedly said as she ignited the flame.

She then locked him inside of the apartment and made sure all the windows were boarded up, according to WOFL. She also reversed the locks so they would only work from the outside and not the inside.

The ex-boyfriend was able to push past Perez and attempt an escape, but his skin was “literally peeling” and he had blood all over his face, according to a neighbor who witnessed the incident.

The ex-boyfriend is now in the hospital and suffered “severe burns on the right side of his body, chest, neck, and face,” WOFL reported. Investigators arrested Perez and think she may have been planning to kill herself after her boyfriend was dead.

Perez is charged with Arson Causing Permanent Disability and attempted First-Degree Murder Premeditated and Kidnapping with False Imprisonment. She has not been granted bail.
