Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, delivered a fierce speech on Monday describing the aftermath of Syria’s latest chemical attack and blaming Russia for aiding and abetting the Assad regime.

Haley asserted that “only a monster” with “no conscience” could commit such atrocities against his own people and noted that those responsible wouldn’t even be shocked at pictures of the dead and injured.

“The Russian regime whose hands are all covered in the blood of Syrian children cannot be ashamed by pictures of its victims,” Haley declared. “We’ve tried that before. We must not overlook Russia and Iran’s role in enabling the Assad regime’s murderous destruction.”

“When the Syrian military pummels civilians, they rely on the military hardware given by Russia,” she continued. “Russia could stop this senseless slaughter if it wanted. But it stands with the Assad regime and supports without any hesitation.”

Haley concluded by condemning Russia for blocking resolutions that would put pressure on the Assad regime and added that the UN Security Council cannot overlook how Russia and Iran assist Assad’s murderous regime.
