Late night talk show host Seth Meyers might have been excited to welcome his second child with wife Alexi Ashe but he probably didn’t expect the birth to be so dramatic.

On Monday’s edition of “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” the former SNL alum explained how it all went down.

While they had every intention of making it to the hospital for a safe and easy delivery, his son-to-be apparently had different plans. Ashe had their son right there in the lobby of their Manhattan apartment.

“We get into the lobby of our building, I have called an Uber, the Uber is outside and we basically get to the steps of our building, walking out the steps, and my wife says, ‘I can’t get in the car, I’m gonna have the baby right now,’” Meyers shared on his show Monday night.

Luckily, Ashe’s mother, as well as her midwife were there.

“She lied down in the lobby, we undressed her and the baby was just out, the head of the baby was out,” he continued. “This is how fast it happened. I called 9-1-1 and over the course of a minute conversation — I basically said, ‘We’re about to have a baby, we’re having a baby, we had a baby.’ I went from someone calling about an emergency to just sharing good news with a stranger.”

Shortly after Ashe gave birth, NYPD and NYFD showed up. The new mother was quickly transported to the hospital where they formally named their son Axel.

This will be the couple’s second son together. They welcomed their first child, Ashe, in March 2016.
