Chaffetz was asked to respond to comments Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, made on Tuesday night. Nunes said he would work to impeach Wray and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein should be impeached for failing to provide Congress with documents related to the Russia investigation. “He should,” Chaffetz said on Fox News. “Now will they have the backbone and the guts to do it, that’s a whole other question.”

“Remember when the IRS director would not turn over the documents? Remember when we were having problems with him? Remember when he came to Congress and lied to us? We tried to impeach him,” Chaffetz recalled. “Under the Constitution, you can impeach somebody who is a civil officer and I’m glad to have Devin Nunes not only talking about it, but willing to take some action.”
