Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich slammed the FBI for using “Gestapo” tactics against Trump officials and blamed deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein for giving the green light.

“This whole thing is absurdity,” Gingrich said on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday. “We’ve now had Paul Manafort and his wife in their pajamas at 3:00 in the morning, having the FBI break down the door. We have had this, last week, Cohen the lawyer, had the door taken off the hinges at 6:00 in the morning.”

“Show me one occasion where out of all the different crimes committed by the Clintons and their staff they ever had that kind of treatment,” Gingrich added.

Gingrich said the the Department of Justice has become a bloated bureaucracy and has a built-in bias against Republicans and President Donald Trump.

“The fact is this is a left-wing bureaucracy at [The Department of] Justice. It is anti-Trump. It is anti-Republican,” Gingrich said. “People who think that the justice is blind which it is supposed to be, no, the left eye is open and what they have done, ought to lead to a real debate not just about Mueller but about the whole Justice Department.”

“And remember it was Rosenstein who approved, apparently, going in at 6:00 in the morning.”

“We’re supposed to have the rule of law,” Gingrich added. “It ain’t the rule of law when they kick in your door at 3:00 in the morning and you’re faced with armed men and you have had no reason to be told you’re going to have that kind of treatment,” he said.

“That’s Stalin,” he concluded. “That’s the Gestapo in Germany. That shouldn’t be the American FBI.”
