If you’re going to invest in any piece of clothing that will not only last you forever, but will be just as stylish 50 years from now as it is today, it’s the iconic Heritage Trench from Burberry. I’m all about cost per wear, a method of analysis in which you divide the price by the amount of times you’ll wear the piece, and figure out whether the price will be worth the use. And the Burberry Trench absolutely is.

There are a couple variations on the Heritage Trench, but the most classic version is the beige slim fit coat, with the famous Burberry plaid design on the inside lining, called The Chelsea Heritage Trench Coat. Every stitch is carefully curated for the best fit, and you’ll notice the quality of the material the moment you slip it on.

As Burberry is currently highlighting the Heritage Trench, they’ve added a couple variations to the original. You can now get the same coat with a longer hem, or go for a midnight black hue.

I believe this trench will go with everything in your wardrobe, and is the perfect intersect between fashion and function. You can go for an Audrey Hepburn inspired look and layer it over a little black dress or a pair of neutral cigarette pants. If you want to do a more modern take, style with a pair of cropped ankle jeans, a white button down, and scalloped flats. The great thing about the Burberry trench, is that the moment you slip it on, no matter what your outfit is, it makes everything look elegant and polished. And you can’t really beat a piece of clothing that does that.

So, how will you style your Burberry Heritage Trench?
