Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch giggled Tuesday as he ripped out pages of the old U.S. tax code and fed them into a paper shredder.

The 84-year-old senator was one of the leaders during the 2017 tax reform push and helped codify the 2017 tax bill into law, which President Donald Trump signed in December.

Hatch took great pleasure Tuesday in turning the old tax code into hamster cage material.

WATCH:

Hatch announced his retirement in early January, putting an end to an over four-decade career in the Senate.

“After much prayer and discussion with family and friends, I have decided to retire at the end of this term,” Hatch announced in a video on Twitter in January. “I’m deeply grateful for the privilege you’ve given me to serve as your senator for these last four decades.”
