The “Fast and Furious” franchise lives on. Shortly after the “Hobbs and Shaw” spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was confirmed, a new “Fast and Furious” TV series has landed at Netflix, Variety reports.
Here’s the kicker: the show will be animated by DreamWorks. The story will reportedly follow Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) cousin Tony, a teenager recruited by the government to infiltrate a drag racing ring. Diesel will serve as a producer for the series, as will the executive producers from DreamWorks’ “Madagascar” animated shows.

Who exactly is this show for? It sounds like it’s designed to reach a younger audience, but for a movie series that’s been releasing films for the better part of two decades, most fans will be much older than the target audience.
The series has already been ordered by the streaming service, so maybe I’m wrong. But it’s tough to imagine a large audience flocking to see a show that needs to find an audience, and doesn’t follow the main characters from the movies.
