Amazon has restricted certain users from posting reviews of former FBI Director James Comey’s book “A Higher Loyalty,” and defended the move as a way to limit unwanted feedback.

Only Amazon customers who actually purchased a copy Comey’s book are allowed to post reviews, according to Fox Business. Anyone else who attempts to post a comment will be hit with an error message.

“This product currently has limitations on submitting reviews,” the error message reads, according to Fox Business. “This may be because we detected unusual review behavior on this product, or to maintain the best possible shopping experience. For more details, see the customer review guidelines.”

Comey has been criticized for only wanting to turn a quick buck and for diminishing the image and reputation of the FBI. Parts of the book devolve into personal attacks on President Donald Trump’s physical appearance and read like a tabloid rather than a serious account.

Amazon told Fox Business the comment restrictions are a way to avoid unwanted negative comments about Comey and other major figures, that might take away from the book’s substance.

“We never reject reviews based on star rating or sentiment,” Amazon said in an email to Fox Business. “When numerous reviews post in a short amount of time that are unrelated to the product, we suppress all non-Amazon Verified Purchase (AVP) reviews. Reviews are meant to help customers by providing real feedback on a product from other customers who have tried it.”

Amazon also instituted similar restrictions for author Michael Wolff’s book “Fire and Fury,” and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2016 memoir “What Happened,” Fox Business reported.
