President Donald Trump urged West Virginia primary voters not to vote for coal baron Don Blankenship in the upcoming Republican primary after the candidates’ incendiary racial remarks.

Trump referenced the earlier Alabama special election failure of Republican Roy Moore. Moore was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women from decades before, including some women who were underage at the time. He lost the reliably red Senate seat to Democrat Doug Jones.

Blankenship has personally attacked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s asian-american wife Secretary Elaine Chao, saying his “China family has given him tens of millions of dollars,” and giving him the nickname “Cocaine Mitch.”
