When I think of the term “utility knife,” some form of pocketknife comes to mind. But “utility” simply means that the knife has many uses, which certainly is true of this precision-forged, high-carbon, stainless-steel knife. It is made in Japan, and we know that if there is one good thing that comes out of Asian manufacturing, it is their blades. When I’m looking for kitchen knives, I want either Japanese or German. I trust their craftmanship.
This 6-inch multipurpose knife can be used for peeling, chopping or slicing. Best of all, it is currently $50 off.
A full 85 percent of the customers who have reviewed this knife have given it 5 out of 5 stars, which is quite the praise…especially for a $120 knife. One of the common elements in the reviews is the durability of this knife. Here is the top review:
I received this Shun utility knife 10 years ago as a present and have used it on an everyday basis since then. This is a true utility knife and gets used most often in my kitchen while looking as good as the first time I held it in my hand. The super strong steel is a bit difficult to sharpen but the knife holds the edge for a long time so sharpening often is not necessary. The handle is very comfortable for my small hand as I found all Shun knifes to be very well balanced for smaller hands. My Shun knife collection has grown significantly since I received the utility knife and my gifts of Shun knives have been greatly appreciated as well. The cost of the knife is more than justified by the workmanship and the quality. I highly recommend it.
Simply put, this knife lasts.
