Migos group member and popular rapper Offset is a cool $150,000 in the can Wednesday after an expensive piece of jewelry was stolen from his Manhattan hotel room.
The rapper reportedly left his chain out in the open when it mysteriously disappeared Tuesday night. His girlfriend and fellow rapper Cardi B confirmed it had been stolen out of their room in a lower east side New York City hotel. They say the last time they’d seen it was on a coffee table Tuesday evening.
It hasn’t yet been specified exactly which chain was snatched, but Offset was traveling pretty heavy this week after he made a flashy appearance at Monday’s Met Gala, decked head to toe in diamonds.
Police told TMZ they’re trying to figure out who the thief may be by investigating the surrounding area and scrutinizing security footage.
But this begs the question: if you’re careless about your $150,000 piece of jewelry, are you basically asking for it to get stolen? This is a totally fair question.
I’m pretty skeptical of using safes in hotel rooms, but I’m also not walking around dripping in diamonds. If I’m rich like Offset, one of the first things I’m investing in is my own personal travel safe. You better bet I’m keeping my chains on lock. I’m not leaving them to collect dust on some run of the mill coffee table. That’s just asking for trouble.
