President Donald Trump will fiercely continue protecting life, he told an audience Tuesday at Susan B. Anthony List’s 11th Annual Campaign for Life Gala and urged the attendees to vote for family values in the upcoming elections.

“As long we have faith in our citizens, confidence in our values and trust in our God then we will never, ever fail,” Trump said at the gala in Washington, D.C. “Our nation will thrive, our people will prosper and America will be greater than before. So this November, vote for family, vote for values, vote for country and vote for life.”

The SBA List is a non-profit organization whose “mission is to end abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders,” according to its website. The group has more than 600,000 members nationwide.

SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser lambasted Trump in January 2016 when she, along with a group of conservatives, signed a letter calling for Iowa residents to vote for “anyone but Trump.” However, she applauded him at the gala, calling him the “most pro-life President in history,” National Public Radio reported. “This is an historic moment,” Dannenfelser told the pro-life audience, pointing to the importance of the 2018 elections. “We are at the cusp of changing history,” she added.

The pro-life gala sits on the heels of an announcement that Title X family planning funds will not go to programs that perform abortion, a Trump administration official said in a statement on May 17. “[The Department of Health and Human Services] will file with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a proposal to update the regulations governing the Title X program to ensure compliance with the program’s statutory prohibition on taxpayer funding of programs where abortion is a method of family planning,” a Trump administration official said. (RELATED: Trump To Propose Title 10 Funding Cuts For Abortion Groups)

Eighty-six pro-life groups signed and sent a letter on May 1 urging the Trump administration to reinstate Title X abortion rules.

Title X gives millions of dollars to family planning and abortion groups, like Planned Parenthood. The move would reverse Obama-era legislation that bars states from withholding Title X funds from Planned Parenthood.
