Harvey Weinstein is scheduled to turn himself in on Friday to face charges related to allegations of sexual abuse.

The New York Daily News reported the following Thursday:

Harvey Weinstein is expected to surrender to authorities Friday to face charges related to alleged sexual misconduct in connection to a probe by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and NYPD, the Daily News has confirmed.

The fallen former Hollywood honcho is facing charges in connection to at least one accuser — Lucia Evans — who reported to investigators that Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004, sources said.

Because of the nature of the allegations, the statute of limitations does not apply.

This is a huge development in the Weinstein case, especially after there was plenty of speculation about whether or not he would ever be charged with a crime after all the allegations.

This isn’t the only problem that Weinstein faces at the moment. He’s also under federal investigation to see if he committed any sex crimes related to transporting women across state lines. (RELATED: FEDERAL PROSECUTORS LAUNCH INVESTIGATION INTO HARVEY WEINSTEIN FOR DISTURBING REASON)

Weinstein was one of the most powerful players in all of Hollywood, and was considered arguably the most important figure in the town prior to his downfall after tons of allegations of misconduct. His former company, The Weinstein Company, is now going bankrupt and he’s getting charged. This could be another step in the floodgates opening up even more. (RELATED: THE WEINSTEIN COMPANY FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY, RELEASES VICTIMS FROM NDAS)
