White house senior adviser Ivanka Trump is set to campaign with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy in his home state of California, according to a Friday report.
Ivanka, President Donald Trump’s daughter, will attend fundraising events in Fresno and Los Angeles on June 18 with McCarthy to help Republicans raise money for the 2018 elections, Politico reported. The money raised from the events will go to McCarthy and Vice President Mike Pence’s fundraising committee called “Protect the House.”
“At the request of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Ivanka Trump will be headlining a June 18 Protect the House fundraiser with the Leader in California,” Ivanka’s office said in a statement to Politico. “Ivanka developed a strong relationship with Leader McCarthy during their efforts to Pass the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and its Child Tax Credit provisions. McCarthy, who is up for re-election in 2018, said in early May that he does not believe Republicans will lose their majority in the House in the November elections.
