Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren was in the middle of slamming President Trump’s immigration policies when she found herself backtracking over former President Obama’s immigration record Tuesday on The View.

“This is an administration policy that is separating these families, a Trump administration policy, and if Donald Trump wants to change it and let families stay together, he can change it,” Warren said. “But the fact that those families are getting separated at the border, the fact that children are being torn out of the arms of their mothers is on Donald Trump’s head and nobody else’s.”

“Even though there was a policy in place under O-” co-host Megan McCain questioned, referring to Obama’s similar immigration policies.

Warren skirted around the question, saying it’s the administration that comes to a consensus on certain immigration policies, but “there’s some things, as you know, have to go through Congress forever, there’s some things that are off an administrative agencies.”

The Massachussets senator continued, “This one is one the president makes the decision. And now what are we all doing, we’re all talking about something else. We’re all talking photographs, what could have been done two years ago, four years ago, or 10 years ago, but let’s face it, we need comprehensive immigration reform”

“Let’s not go backwards in the blame game,” Warren pressed.
