Liberal radio host Bill Press said on Thursday that “The View’s” Joy Behar was right when she said that Christianity is a form of mental illness.
Behar was forced to apologize in March after she mocked Vice President Mike Pence’s Christianity on air. (RELATED: Joy Behar: ‘I Sincerely Apologize For What I Said’ About Mike Pence’s Christian Faith)
“It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you. That’s called mental illness, if I’m not correct, hearing voices,” Behar said.
The comments were re-hashed during Thursday’s White House press briefing when press secretary Sarah Sanders insisted there is a double standard in how the media covers disparaging comments from people like Roseanne Barr versus left-leaning celebrities. Press played Sanders’ comments on his show and wound up agreeing with Behar’s initial assertion that Pence’s form of Christianity is “mental illness.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoah — first off all, Joy Behar apologized on the air,” Press said. “She said that about Mike Pence — by the way, Mike Pence’s Christianity? She’s right. She’s right. Yeah.”
