An activist from the Women’s March claimed red lipstick is the ultimate feminist statement, she told Glamour Thursday.
Sarah Sophie Flicker, an actress, feminist activist and co-author of “Together We Rise: Behind the Scenes at the Protest Heard Around the World,” explained the power of wearing a red lipstick as a unifying force among women, she explained to Glamour magazine. Flicker claimed the lipstick shade is “universal” since it looks good on every skin tone. Therefore, it helps bring cohesion between feminist activists.
Flicker explained the use of lipstick created a strong sense of unity among the group’s organizers at the Women’s March. The feminist explained that during the 2017 Women’s March, many of the organizers arrived at 3 a.m. already wearing their red lipstick. The group of women were pleased that their makeup still was intact even 16 hours later. (RELATED: Last Week Showed The Clearest Problem With Modern Feminism)

WOW what a night! We wrote a book in 9 weeks, in true @womensmarch fashion. It was overwhelming and scary and emotional but so incredibly worth it. It has been the greatest honor to hear your stories, tell ours and continue the work of the collective midwifery of a truly intersectional feminist movement. NOW let’s get this book way up on the charts and piss off the fragile ego of that man who calls himself the president! Thank you a beautiful night @cindi_leive @lsarsour @cleowade @cfendlay @elainewelteroth @paolamendoza @resistancerevivalchorus @msladyjustice1 @deystreet @ginnysuss @kishabari @davidkuhnprojects @glamourmag and my favorite movement family, the @womensmarch! #togetherwerise #resist #keepshowingup #powertothepolls #stayhuman #womensmarch
It’s a feminist whirlwind! Before we head off to @usowomen, I wanted to recap the #gloriaawards. This night, was magic and @ava’s speech was everything. When we talk about self care, I’m equally interested in community care. Nurturing our relationships to each other, refusing to recreate oppressive systems within our own communities & being the place where we can be vulnerable and soft together. @msfoundation accomplished this with this night. And @resistancerevivalchorus got to ring in the evening with song!!! Thank you @gloriasteinem @a_gelique @teresa.younger!!! #stayhuman #keepshowingup #resist
