White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders took the press podium Monday at the White House and was immediately asked about a recent Trump tweet saying he could “pardon” himself.

On Monday morning, Trump tweeted that “legal scholars” have said that Trump has “the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong?” “In the meantime,” Trump said, “the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!”

ABC reporter Jonathan Karl shot Sanders her first question about Trump’s tweet.

“Why does he think that and does he agree with Rudy Giuliani that a pardon for himself would be unthinkable and would lead to immediate impeachment?”

Sanders said, “The president doesn’t have a need for a pardon.” Karl pressed, “Does he rule that out?”

Sarah said bluntly, “The president hasn’t done anything wrong and wouldn’t need one.”

Sanders repeated the line multiple times during the briefing.
