Fox News retook the top primetime cable spot last week after briefly falling behind TNT during the NBA playoffs.

According to Nielsen Media Research, FNC was the number one network in both average primetime viewers and total day viewers last week, besting competitors CNN and MSNBC. (RELATED: Fox News Wrecks Competition In May Cable Ratings)

FNC reached 2.2 million average primetime viewers, compared to MSNBC’s 1.48 million and CNN’s 750,000.

CNN has severely struggled with their ratings over the past year. The news network finished 16th in primetime behind networks like Home and Garden TV, Discovery Channel, and Food Network. They finished 10th in daytime viewers behind cartoon channels Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

In fact, Nickelodeon, which hosts “Spongebob Squarepants,” received nearly double the amount of average daytime viewers when compared to CNN. Cartoon Network, which hosts shows like “The Amazing World Of Gumball” and “Teen Titans Go!,” edged out CNN by about 10,000 average viewers.
