John Roberts of FOX News made a joke at the Tuesday afternoon White House press briefing that even Press Secretary Sarah Sanders found mildly funny.
“Sarah, the president again took a stick to his favorite piñata, Jeff Sessions today” Roberts stated.
Sanders was visibly amused by his metaphor and even commented on the fact that he “got” some of his colleagues with the line.
“What is the president’s goal here,” he continued after the laughter had subsided. “Is it just simply to remind the attorney general that he’s really P.O.’d at him and he’s not going to let him forget it? Is he trying to get him to quit? Is he trying to emasculate him? What is the president trying to do?”
“Look,” she replied “the president’s made his position on this extremely clear and I don’t have anything to add beyond that.”
