Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday in Israel that special counsel Robert Mueller is trying to frame President Donald Trump over the Russia probe.
Giuliani told an audience at the the Globes capital markets conference in Tel Aviv that Mueller’s team consists of “13 highly partisan Democrats … (who) are trying very very hard to frame him to get him in trouble when he hasn’t done anything wrong,” according to a report by the Associated Press.
Giuliani claimed Trump has the legal power to pardon himself, but won’t because he is innocent.
These comments follow a string of remarks from Giuliani, who serves as one of Trump’s top lawyers and has been in the news for a flurry of interviews on the Russia probe.
Giuliani disputed to CNN’s Chris Cuomo Monday that the White House lied when representatives said Trump dictated a statement about a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer in June 2016, despite previously saying the opposite.
“It was a mistake,” he said. “I swear to God it was a mistake,” Giuliani said of the shift in comment. (RELATED: Giuliani Suggests Constitution Doesn’t Forbid Trump From Pardoning Himself, Rudy Fears Trump/Mueller Interview Is A Trap [VIDEO])
