MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace moaned in excitement Wednesday after conservative pundit Charlie Sykes criticized one of the recipients of President Donald Trump’s pardons.
The topic arose of potential new pardons by the president during “Deadline: White House.”
“We’re in this process where [Trump] is clearly saying, look, if you don’t cooperate, I’m pardoning everybody. I’m handing them out like Skittles. I’m going to take right-wing control like Dinesh D’Souza,” Sykes told Wallace.
It was this moment where a burst of Dionysian energy overtook Wallace, leading her to exclaim “Woah! That gives me life — to hear you call him a right-wing troll.”
Liberals criticized Trump’s decision to pardon D’Souza, who pled guilty to charges of campaign finance violations in 2014. (RELATED: Trump Pardons Dinesh D’Souza)
“Mr. D’Souza was, in the president’s opinion, a victim of selective prosecution for violations of campaign finance laws. Mr. D’Souza accepted responsibility for his actions, and also completed community service by teaching English to citizens and immigrants seeking citizenship,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a May 31 statement.
