President Donald Trump wished Alice Johnson well in life after commuting her life sentence at the request of reality TV star Kim Kardashian West.

“Ms. Johnson has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades. Despite receiving a life sentence, Alice worked hard to rehabilitate herself in prison, and act as a mentor to her fellow inmates,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a #Wednesday statement.

President Trump saved Alice Johnson’s life today. We are extremely grateful and hope the President continues to use his clemency power to save lives,” her attorney said in a statement after Trump’s commutation.

Kardashian West met with Trump in the Oval Office recently to plead Johnson’s case. Kardashian-West first learned about Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for leading a multi-million dollar cocaine ring in the early 1990s, on Twitter. She has served more than 21 years in federal prison.
