Former NBA star Dennis Rodman landed at Changi Airport in Singapore late Monday night ahead of the historic summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The 57-year-old retired professional basketball player told the press he was “excited to be part” of the summit, according to Reuters.
“It should go fairly well, but people should not expect so much for the first time,” Rodman explained. “The doors are opening.”
There is no indication if the all-star player will contribute anything to the meeting. Last week, Trump said that Rodman had not been invited to Singapore to be part of the gathering.
On Friday, Rodman tweeted that he was headed to Singapore to offer “whatever support is needed to my friends.”
“Thanks to my loyal sponsors from @potcoin and my team at @Prince_Mrketing, I will be flying to Singapore for the historical Summit. I’ll give whatever support is needed to my friends, @realDonaldTrump and Marshall Kim Jong Un,” the NBA star tweeted.

A year ago, he traveled to North Korea and met with the leader as a private citizen, telling reporters after the trip that he was “just trying to open the door.”
