National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow suffered a heart attack Monday and is now undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center, President Donald Trump revealed minutes before his summit with Kim Jong Un.

Kudlow appeared on national television just a day earlier to defend Trump’s decision not to sign a joint communique from the G-7 meeting in Canada. Kudlow began his role in the White House in April and is 70 years old.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a statement saying “Earlier today National Economic Council Director and Assistant to the President Larry Kudlow, experienced what his doctors say, was a very mild heart attack. Larry is currently in good condition at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and his doctors expect he will make a full and speedy recovery. The President and his Administration send their thoughts and prayers to Larry and his family.”
