Alicia Avery of Brooklyn, New York, was allegedly bludgeoned with a hammer and set on fire by her boyfriend, and now has burns over 90 percent of her body.
Avery, 32, also suffered “bleeding gashes to her head, skull fractures [and] damaged teeth” on June 12, according to The New York Post. She is currently in critical condition at Harlem Hospital. (RELATED: Mother Arrested For Stabbing Daughter And Lighting Her On Fire)
Avery’s 26-year-old ex-convict boyfriend Larry McGloster was arraigned in court on charges of attempted murder, arson and assault before being denied bail.
McGloster is said to have beaten Avery with a hammer and then doused her in some type of “accelerant” before lighting her on fire and fleeing the scene, The New York Post reported. She was said to be “crying for help” before a nearby witness was able to put out the fire with a blanket.
