Elon Musk, chief executive of Tesla motor company, is accusing an employee of tampering with the company’s operating system, according to an internal email from Musk to employees obtained by Reuters.

Musk is alleging that the employee engaged in “extensive and damaging sabotage” when they made coding changes to the company’s operating system and shared sensitive information with a third party, according to the email, which was sent Sunday night.

Tesla is investigating if the employee “was working with any outside organizations,” to share trade data.

In a separate email sent to employees on Monday morning about a small fire that occurred in a Tesla factory in Fremont, Calif., Musk reiterated the need for caution within the company from potential sabotage. (RELATED: Elon Musk Keeps Insisting Tesla Will Be Profitable One Day)

“Could just be a random event, but as Andy Grove said, “Only the paranoid survive,”” Musk wrote in the email obtained by CNBC. Please be on the alert for anything that’s not in the best interests of our company.”

This comes after the CEO fired 9 percent of its workforce earlier in June amidst the company’s push to mass produce 5,000 Model 3 sedans a week. Musk says the restructuring and layoffs won’t affect this goal, according to reports by Fox Business.
