Comedian Kathy Griffin is now publicly defending her photoshoot with a “beheaded” President Trump head last year.

Griffin defended the photo op in part because she was not was not a real “head” and she was not using real “blood.” Griffin made the argument after a Fox News reporter reported on her profane tirade against Melania Trump. On Sunday, Griffin responded to Melania’s statement on separating families at the border by saying “Fuck you, Melanie. You know damn well your husband can end this immediately…you feckless complicit piece of shit.”

In response to her tweet, Fox News reporter Garret Tenney said “Kathy Griffin responds to @FLOTUS statement on families separated at the border w/ this expletive-laced, personal attack on the First Lady. This comes less than a year after Griffin posted a photo of herself holding a bloody, decapitated Donald Trump head.”

In response, Griffin asked “Was it a ‘head’? Or was it a mask covered in ketchup? Do you actually think I used blood? Is this what you think? And it’s actually been more than a year since that photo Garrett.”

In early 2017, Griffin released a series of photos depicting her holding a severed head of Donald Trump. The stunt cost Griffin multiple gigs and led to a tear-filled apology. A the time, Griffin said she “completely apologizes” and “went way too far.”

Times have changed.
