President Donald Trump questioned the media and Democratic Party’s selective outrage Monday over family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border for those arriving illegally.

Trump’s tweet follows a similar message from one of his own spokesmen minutes before on “Fox & Friends.”

“Where is the outcry for permanent separation when one of these people come to the country, commit a crime, kill an American citizen with their own hand or via drugs they distribute, [and] no one comes to their defense? The permanent separation is the biggest abomination. No Democrat is decrying that at all,” White House spokesman Hogan Gidley said on “Fox & Friends.”

Trump and Gidley’s statements follow the Trump administration’s policy of separating illegal immigrants families at the border during criminal prosecution of the adults. The policy has been decried as inhumane. The Trump administration defends the policy saying the only other option is to catch and release them.
