MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle broke down into tears on Tuesday while discussing the policy of separating families at the border when they cross into the U.S. illegally.

WATCH:

Ruhle is in Texas and reporting from the border about the Trump administration’s full enforcement of a policy that puts children in shelters while their parents are prosecuted for illegal border crossing.

“What happens to these little kids?” Ruhle started. “According to the Texas Tribune, some parents have told attorneys their children were taken from them immediately at the border.”

“Others have said they were taken from them at processing facilities,” she continued, with tears welling in her eyes. “The government has provided reporters videos they shot but will not allow us to shoot our own video or take our own pictures.”

Rule pulled it back together for a minute or so but started tearing up again when she prepared the audience to hear audio of children crying for their parents.

“This audio is very difficult to listen to,” she said, her voice breaking.
