CNN commentator Ana Navarro mocked Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s Tuesday evening dinner interruption by a group of chanting socialists.

“Are there no Norwegian restaurants in Washington, D.C.?” Navarro asked.

That led Washington Examiner columnist Byron York to retweet Navarro’s tweet along with the obvious implication, that Nielsen should “stick to her own ethnicity in choosing restaurants.”

Before that, Navarro tweeted a sardonic “NO enchiladas for you!” message, which she later deleted but York saved.

Navarro responded to York by contending that her “Norwegian” reference was directly referring to “Trump lamenting we didn’t get more immigrants from Norway,” adding that she didn’t “know Nielsen’s ethnicity, nor does it matter.”

Maybe not, but Ancestry.com does list the background of the name “Nielsen” as “Danish, Norwegian, and North German (especially Schleswig-Holstein): patronymic from the personal name Niels, a reduced form of Nikolaus (see Nicholas).”

York, however, seemed to be willing to give Nielsen the benefit of the doubt.

Several members of a group called the DC Democratic Socialists of America group confronted Nielsen at a Mexican restaurant Tuesday evening. (RELATED: ‘Fascist Pig!’ — Chanting Socialists Chase DHS Secretary Nielsen Out Of Mexican Restaurant)

“We’re in downtown DC disrupting DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s dinner at MXDC,” the group wrote below the video on its Facebook page. “The irony isn’t lost on us that this is a Mexican restaurant. Nielsen has led the program to tell her to put an end to separating families, to step down as head of the department, and that ICE and CBP must be abolished #abolishICE #abolishCBP.”
