MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski called Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen’s decision to eat at a Mexican restaurant Tuesday “very tone-deaf.”

“Activists heckled Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen,” Brzezinski stated. “She made the very tone-deaf decision Ivanka-like decision to dine at a Mexican restaurant last night.”

“DHS put out a statement saying the protesters ‘share her concern with our current immigration laws that have created a crisis on the southern border,'” she continued.

Mika concluded, “Again it’s not a law, it’s the president’s policy.”

The Metro D.C. Democratic Socialists of America posted, “The irony isn’t lost on us that this is a Mexican restaurant. Nielsen has led the program to tear apart families. We are here to tell her to put an end to separating families, to step down as head of the department, and that ICE and CBP must be abolished” on their Facebook page.
