Host of Fox Business’ “Varney & Company” Stuart Varney said President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on China are part of an ongoing negotiation and have yet to cause a trade war, Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”

Varney slammed the media for ignoring Trump’s accomplishments and said America’s optimism continues to increase. (RELATED: Stuart Varney Accuses Mainstream Media Of Ignoring Booming Economy)

“The media is ignoring deliberately President Trump’s success. If you read the headlines, watch the evening news today or yesterday or this week at all, it’s trade war, it’s children in cages,” Varney said. “The real big story that affects everybody in America is the success of the president’s tax-cut package and what it has done for our economy.”

“The media does not want you to know this, and will not cover it,” he added.

“Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade said America has fallen into a semi-trade war with China and asked if citizens should be concerned about possible repercussions from the tariffs.

“Wait a second. Two days ago, President Trump threatened 10 percent tariffs on $200 billion of worth of Chinese exports to the United States. We were all waiting to see what China will do about it,” Varney replied. “We’re still waiting. Two days gone and we don’t have a response from China. So it’s not the tit-for-tat war you might imply. It’s ongoing negotiation. It’s ongoing dispute.”
