Demonstrators shouted at Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen’s house Friday morning with speakers and megaphones, protesting a policy that’s no longer in place.

“Protestors are outside of DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen’s Alexandria townhouse, playing audio of the detained children,” a Twitter user wrote in a tweet with a video of the protesters. “She appears to be still be home.”

They shouted “Shame!” and played recordings of children crying over speakers while Nielsen’s neighbors looked at the scene from their windows, according to a tweet from Philip Lewis, a Huffington Post editor.

The group of hecklers trapped Nielsen in her home until she eventually had to leave for work, walking past them on her way — all the while they shouted “Shame!” at her.

Nielsen has been targeted for the former policy of keeping children in separate holding areas after they’re caught with adults illegally entering the country.

A group of socialist protesters chased Nielsen out of a restaurant yelling “Fascist pig!” at her while she walked away from the radicals on Tuesday evening. (RELATED: ‘Fascist Pig!’ — Chanting Socialists Chase DHS Secretary Nielsen Out Of Mexican Restaurant)

The protesters Friday morning were there demonstrating against President Donald Trump’s zero-tolerance policy on illegal immigration, which includes laws that have been in place since the Obama era.

When immigrants were caught attempting to enter the country illegally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement formerly placed children in separate holding areas away from adults. Sometimes children were with their parents attempting to enter the country illegally, but without documentation it’s difficult to know if a child is there with a parent or if he or she is with a potential human trafficker, according to Nielsen.

“We have a statutory responsibility that we take seriously to protect alien children from human smuggling, trafficking and other criminal actions while enforcing our immigration laws,” Nielsen said on Monday in a statement regarding the separation of children. “We also separate a parent and child if the adult is suspected of human trafficking.”

Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday ending the policy that placed children in their own holding areas, away from adults with no documentation proving they were related.

Trump’s executive order doesn’t end the immigration policy of detaining illegal aliens caught crossing the southern border — instead, it lets them stay with their children while they’re detained.
