President Donald Trump told Republicans to “stop wasting their time” on immigration policy until after the midterm elections in a Friday tweet.
The president advised GOP lawmakers to wait until the upcoming November elections, when more Republicans are anticipated to be elected in what he called a “Red Wave.”
“Even if we get 100% Republican votes in the Senate, we need 10 Democrat votes to get a much needed Immigration Bill,” he said.
Republicans should stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November. Dems are just playing games, have no intention of doing anything to solves this decades old problem. We can pass great legislation after the Red Wave!

The tweet comes at a time when House GOP members have been having difficulty gathering enough support to pass immigration legislation. The White House has also been facing additional backlash over border policies that previously separated children from their parents when families cross the border illegally. Trump emphasized the need to elect more Republicans during the midterm elections and called out Democrats for their obstructionist tactics in a separate tweet.
Elect more Republicans in November and we will pass the finest, fairest and most comprehensive Immigration Bills anywhere in the world. Right now we have the dumbest and the worst. Dems are doing nothing but Obstructing. Remember their motto, RESIST! Ours is PRODUCE!
