Sen. Bernie Sanders had an apparent moment of confusion on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, mixing up President Trump with former President Obama.
WATCH:
“So what we need is comprehensive immigration reform. We need Obama–we need Trump now to make it clear that the United States of America is not a nation which tears children from their parents,” Sanders told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “We need to go about dealing with comprehensive immigration reform.”
Of course, Trump actually signed an executive order that did stop family separations, which Sanders still was not happy with.
Trump’s executive order merely replaces one inhumane act with another. In response to the overwhelming public outrage at his policy of tearing children away from their parents at the border, this administration thinks the appropriate response is to indefinitely detain families. https://t.co/whZNxHzLHv

I am hopeful that, as we have seen with other racist and xenophobic Trump policies, the courts will step in to rein in these unlawful actions.
