Attorney Michael Avenatti was put on blast by immigration attorneys after he spent a week in Phoenix to meet with illegal immigrant children separated from their parents.

The former Stormy Daniels lawyer decided to get involved in the immigration debate, but was met with opposition from many immigration lawyers interviewed by The Observer after he tweeted out the full names and alien registration numbers of his illegal immigrant clients. All of them ultimately decided his involvement in the immigration issue was not helping, according to lawyers the outlet interviewed.

Immigration lawyer Alida Garcia criticized Avenatti on Twitter, saying his idea was “HORRIBLE.”

Immigration attorney R. Andrew Free told Observer that Avenatti’s plan “accepts detention as the default,” saying, “it is fantastically irresponsible.”

The last immigration lawyer interviewed, Matt Archambeault, added on to the criticism, saying “What he’s talking about is family detention on steroids,” he continued, “jailing a child with their mom or dad is still jailing a child. I’ve seen really adverse psychological effects on the parents and the child.”

“I don’t know why he thinks we need a single staging area,” Archambeault continued. “I don’t even understand what the concept is. It seems like he wants everyone blocked to one area and penned off by age or something so the parents can walk through and call their kid’s name.” (RELATED: Avenatti Throws A Tantrum Over LA Times Story About His Bankrupt Law Firm)

Avenatti has continued to be actively involved in nearly every political issue on Twitter, but clearly many wish he would just stay out of the mix.
