Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis of Florida said he plans to have Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California censured for her comments about Trump administration officials and will ask for her resignation.

“I think the hard left in this country is just totally off the rails, and Maxine Waters is really the pied piper for the unhinged left with her rantings and ravings, which has been going on for a long time,” DeSantis said on Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom” Tuesday. (RELATED: GOP Rep. “What she did this weekend I think crossed a clear line,” he said. “She was inciting people to, I think it was to violence but certainly do things that are outside the democratic tradition by harassing people. So I’m proud to be leading an effort with a few of my colleagues to censure her in the House and to ask for her resignation. I don’t think she’s fit to serve with that.”

DeSantis said it was in bad taste for Waters to stoke such hatred only one year after GOP lawmakers were targeted by a liberal shooter during their softball practice.

“This is a year after my Republican colleagues at baseball practice got shot up by an unhinged left-wing anti-Trump lunatic and he targeted us because we were Republicans,” DeSantis added.

There is room for political discourse, DeSantis said, but he draws the line at public harassment.

“Harassing people I think crosses the line and yes, I do think when you’re stirring up people like that, I think you’re likely to try to incite somebody to do something that could be very, very bad,” he concluded.

“So I just think it’s irresponsible, and we’ve seen too many instances. I mean, the baseball practice is obviously the most serious one. But just our attorney general in Florida Pam Bondi was getting harassed by left-wing activist just this weekend, going to see a movie about Mr. Rogers. It’s just gotten off the rails.”
