Five people were killed and several other were injured after shots rang off in an Annapolis, Maryland, newsroom Thursday afternoon.

The shooter has reportedly been identified as as Jarrod Warren Ramos, a white male reportedly in his 30’s, who has had past issues with the Capital-Gazette. Ramos allegedly entered the newsroom with a shotgun, shooting through a glass door at the newspaper’s headquarters and opening fire on employees.

Ramos was also armed with fake grenades, smoke bombs and flash bang devices in his backpack, which were found on him after he was arrested, CBS News reported.

According to reports, an intern was the first to alert social media about the shooting, sending out a tweet with the address saying, “Active shooter 888 Bestgate please help us.”

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is reportedly on scene working with police to investigate the ongoing situation.

The Baltimore Sun, a parent company, was also being searched for possible threats, according to early reports.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted out a response to the shooting, shortly after the news broke, saying he was “Absolutely devastated to learn of this tragedy.”

President Donald Trump responded to the news, saying his “thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

Ramos was reportedly found hiding under a desk in the newsroom after he allegedly killed five and injured others. (RELATED: Police: Maryland High School On Lockdown, Shots Fired)

Police have not yet confirmed Ramos’ motive, but he is said to have filed a defamation claim in 2012 against the paper, but the case was dismissed.
