Iraq sentenced 12 people convicted on terrorism charges to death just hours after Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi called for the “immediate” execution of all terrorists on death row Thursday.

The executions come after al-Abadi’s demands are in response to the kidnapping and killing of eight members of their security forces, according to announcement by the Iraqi government on Friday. (RELATED: Iraq PM Calls For ‘Immediate’ Execution Of All Terrorists On Death Row)

The Justice Ministry reportedly said the government had exhausted all possible chances for appeal and released photographs of the executions, one showing four men hanging, according to report by The Washington Post.

Al-Abadi has been facing questions after the bodies of eight policemen and members of a pro-government Shiite group were found in Baghdad on the side of a highway. The eight security officers were believed to have been abducted by Islamic State (ISIS) militants.

Iraqi courts sentenced 212 people to death in Mosul for their relations with ISIS, Reuters reported in April. Another 150 were sent to prison.
