CNN commentator John Avlon called out Fox News host Sean Hannity on “New Day” Friday for escalating the political rhetoric surrounding the Capital Gazette shooting.
Hannity laid blame on Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California for encouraging liberals to rise up and embrace violence, but Avlon disagreed and held President Donald Trump responsible for the deadly massacre. (RELATED: CNN’s John Avlon Says Dems Are Being Taken Over By The ‘Occupy Generation’)
“He’s been warning for some time about the escalating rhetoric? This is somebody who has been excusing escalating rhetoric that we have seen,” Avlon said. “The President of the United States this week, as in many past weeks, calling the press the enemy of the American people. His acolytes echoing that and ratcheting it up.”
“This is the deadliest newsroom attack in U.S. history,” Avlon concluded.
