U.S. Border Patrol officers captured 20 illegal aliens and two suspected human smugglers, according to a Tuesday press release.

Agents found the illegal aliens along with two suspected human smugglers, 31-year old Adrian Jose Flores and 18-year old Alexis Emanuel Gutierrez-Rodriguez, in an Eagle Pass stash house on June 28. Flores is from Lufkin, Texas and was paid $400 to drive the illegal aliens to the alien stash house.

Gutierrez-Rodriguez was from Mexico and “acted as a foot-guide to smuggle the illegal aliens into the United States,” according to court documents. The people smuggled into the U.S. illegally were brought from Mexico and Central America.

Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Felix Chavez said human smuggling is a big problem in the area. (RELATED: The Trump Administration Is Cracking Down On Immigration Loopholes)

“Unfortunately, this problem is compounded by the large profits that draw individuals to join criminal smuggling organizations,” Chavez said in a statement. “We remain committed to seeking out, identifying, and bringing to justice those who callously break our nation’s laws and jeopardize human lives.”

The two suspected smugglers are currently in federal custody while the remaining illegal aliens are being processed at Eagle Pass South Station.
