“You saw that clown yesterday on the Statue of Liberty, you see the guys that went up there,” said Trump of Okoumou during a Montana campaign-style rally on behalf of Democratic Sen Jon Tester’s opponent.

“I wouldn’t have done it,” Trump said. “I would have said let’s get some nets. We’ll wait ’til she comes down – just get some nets.” (RELATED: Here Is The Immigration Protester Who Shut Down Fourth Of July Tours At The Statue Of Liberty)

The president then complimented the professionals who removed Okoumou from her perch.

“You see those guys?” Trump said. “The bravery of doing that — what a group!”

Born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Okoumou has lived in New York for a decade and has a long history of social activism and discrimination lawsuits against former employers. She was charged in a federal court on Thursday with trespassing, interference with agency functions and disorderly conduct and has posted bail, according to ABC News. Each charge could carry as much as six months in prison.
