Harvard Law School professor Alan Dershowitz said liberals who turned against him for supporting President Donald Trump’s rights are “hypocrites” who would be cheering if he was defending Hillary Clinton.

“I’m an objective, neutral person,” Dershowitz said on MSNBC’s “Kasie DC” Sunday. (RELATED: Alan Dershowitz Doubles Down Against Liberal Hate: I Will Not Be Shut Down)

“Hypothetically if Hillary Clinton had been elected … and she were being subject to an impeachment investigation, I’d be making the same arguments. And I’d be the hero of the Vineyard … People would be applauding me and cheering me and loving me. These are hypocrites who don’t understand that you make the same arguments no matter who the person is.”

“If you believe in the Constitution, there isn’t one rule for Hillary Clinton and one rule for Donald Trump,” he added.

Dershowitz said if the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) stepped up and did their job, he wouldn’t have to be publicly defending Trump with such vigor.

“If the ACLU were making these arguments, I could be enjoying my summer on Martha’s Vineyard, but they’re dead in the water,” he concluded. “They’ve now become a campaign aide for the Democratic Party.”
