Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas returned to Los Angeles on Monday for the third time to raise money with Hollywood’s elite for his Senate campaign against GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

The star-studded event was held at the home of actress Nancy Stephens and filmmaker Rick Rosenthal and was co-hosted by an assortment of actors, producers, media executives, lawyers and film consultants, reported Variety Magazine. Ticket prices began at $250 per attendee and individuals who raised more than $5,000 could be placed on the host committee. Attendees could also purchase their way onto the committee by contributing no less than $2,700.

O’Rourke has repeatedly prided himself on not accepting any contributions from political action committees or corporate entities. “I don’t want you worried that when I’m taking a vote, making a decision, writing a bill, looking at an amendment, that I’m listening to anyone but you, the people that I want to serve and that I want to represent,” he told voters in Dallas in March 2017. (RELATED: Beto O’Rourke Spent Independence Day Singing About Pot)

The Los Angeles event is not listed on his website, nor on his Facebook page along with his other appearances.

Cruz leads O’Rourke by plus nine in the latest poll with only seven percent still undecided.
