A new ad campaign by Concerned Veterans for America (CVA) is attacking Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s attendance record, according to a press release from CVA on Tuesday.

“Tammy Baldwin missed over 70 percent of important meetings — 100 times, her chair sat empty while she was supposed to be attending important meetings,” the ad says while highlighting photos of Baldwin behind an empty chair.

The ad campaign, which will air across Wisconsin, cost almost $1 million, according to a source familiar with the campaign. (RELATED: Liberals Freak Out Over Everything)

“Senator Baldwin frequently talks about veterans as she campaigns around Wisconsin, but actions speak louder than words and by failing to attend meetings of a critical committee that oversees the VA, Senator Baldwin showed that veterans issues weren’t a priority for her,” CVA Executive Director Dan Caldwell said in a Tuesday press statement. “Time and again, when Wisconsinites needed her voice in Washington, Baldwin didn’t show up.”

The ads will begin to run on July 12, according to the press release.

Baldwin currently sits on the Senate Committee on Appropriations, the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, as well as the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, according to her website. On the Appropriations Committee, she sits on the subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies.

Baldwin’s 2018 Senate race is categorized as “likely Democratic” by the Cook Political Report, meaning that the seat is “not considered competitive at this point, but [has] the potential to become engaged.”
